Grace van Dien is an American actress best known for her TV roles as well as online social media streaming and content creation. Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, she comes from a line of actors and actresses, with her father being actor Casper Van Dien, and her great-grandfather being Hollywood legend Robert Mitchum.
Grace first started acting in small roles and family productions. Her first serious role came in 2017, portraying Brooke Osmond in the Netflix drama Greenhouse Academy. She then went on to star in the role of Katie Campbell in the NBC drama series The Village, and later appeared in a string of independent films, including Charlie Says, playing the role of Sharon Tate. Her most famous role to date is that of cheerleader and school sweetheart Chrissy Cunningham in the fourth season of the Netflix show Stranger Things.

In addition to her acting, Grace has grown her online platforms. Starting in 2021, she launched a channel on Twitch, where she shares gameplay content, often playing along to games like Valorant and Fortnite, and chatting with her followers. Her livestream quickly garnered a large following, establishing her as a gaming creator and social media star on the rise. She has stated that streaming created a space that allowed her to engage directly with her fans, contrary to her acting work.
Beyond her professional work, Grace has attracted attention for her approach to the entertainment industry and her public reflections on her career. In early 2023, she spoke openly about her decision to turn down acting roles in the wake of negative experiences on set, including instances of unwanted sexual advances by a producer. During a livestream, she described how a past workplace encounter influenced her decision to focus more on streaming and developing her own creative projects rather than immediately pursuing new acting opportunities.
Aside from speaking out about harassment, Grace has also been open about her sexuality online. In another livestream on Twitch during 2022, followers asked her if she was an ally of the LGBT community, to which she replied,
Well, I am bisexual, so of course I support LGBT rights.
Recently, Grace has continued to pursue television work and continued to grow her Twitch account, while maintaining a selective role about future on-screen representation. She has also indicated an interest in pursuing creative work on her own terms.
As a bi public figure, Van Dien occupies a visible place at the crossroads of mainstream entertainment and online media. Her work across television, independent projects, and digital platforms contributes to ongoing discussions about representation, labor, and autonomy in the entertainment industry, particularly for queer performers navigating increasingly hybrid career paths.
