Tessa Mae Thompson is a who’s who of blockbusters and hits shows

Summary: Tessa Thompson is an American actor. Her breakout role was in Tina Mabry's 2009 indie film Mississippi Damned. She gained further recognition for her starring roles in For Colored Girls, Annihilation, Sorry to Bother You, Westworld, the Creed trilogy, and as Valkyrie, a bi character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In 2018, Thompson came out as bi during an interview.

Thompson is also known for playing Valkyrie, a bi character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). While the character is clearly bi in the comic books, many fans complained that her sexuality was erased in Thor: Ragnarok. However, at 2019 comic con, Thompson said:

As new king, she needs to find her queen. That will be her first order of business. She has some ideas. Keep you posted.

This was later confirmed by studio head Kevin Feige, meaning that Valkyrie will be the first superhero in the MCU to have a same-sex relationship.[1]

In 2022, Marvel released the sequel to Ragnarok, Thor: Love and Thunder that gave Valkyrie a fleshed out bi storyline and tons of bi references throughout.

In June 2018, Thompson came out as bi during an interview with Porter Magazine declaring:

I can take things for granted because of my family — it’s so free and you can be anything that you want to be. I’m attracted to men and also to women. If I bring a woman home, [or] a man, we don’t even have to have the discussion.[2]

She also was featured as a girlfriend in Janelle Monae's music videos for "Yoga", "Make Me Feel", and "Pynk".
