Kristen Jaymes Stewart is an American actor and director, who gained international fame for her portrayal of Bella Swan in The Twilight Saga film series (2008-2012).
Stewart was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, to parents John Stewart, a stage manager and television producer, and Jules Mann-Stewart, a script supervisor and filmmaker. She began acting at the age of eight after an agent saw her perform in her elementary school's Christmas play. At 12, she landed her first major role, playing Jodie Foster's daughter in Panic Room (2002).
After appearing in such films as Zathura: A Space Adventure (2005) and Into the Wild (2007), she achieved global stardom after being cast as the protagonist of the movie adaptation of the Best Seller phenomenon Twilight.
Following the success of The Twilight Saga, her career focus shifted towards independent films, such as Adventureland (2009) and The Runaways (2010), before returning to major Hollywood roles with the reboot of Charlie’s Angels (2019).
She has worked continuously, with over 60 acting credits to her name. In 2021, she portrayed Princess Diana in the film Spencer to great acclaim, earning her Golden Globe and Oscar nominations for Best Actress.
In 2024, Stewart starred in writer-director Rose Glass's romantic thriller Love Lies Bleeding. A movie set in 1989 that follows the story of Louise “Lou” Langston (played by Kristen Stewart) and Jackie, an aspiring bodybuilder.
She has received numerous accolades, including a BAFTA Rising Star Award in 2010, and the César Award for Best Supporting Actress for Clouds of Sils Maria (2014). In 2012, she was the world's highest-paid actress.
Stewart has always been very open about her bisexuality. In 2017 she told The Guardian:
You're not confused if you're bisexual. It's not confusing at all. For me, it's quite the opposite.[1]
In an interview with The Mirror in 2022, she admitted that some fans were confused by her bisexuality, but she wasn’t worried about it:
It was confusing for other people. […] I was fine. I was one way for a long time and I was not a different way once I started dating other people. Unless you say the words, because words matter, you’re not fully out yet.
