I am liberal and a very involved and vocal activist. I am also a very active person, a surfer, skater, BMX biker, and diver, among other things. I love life and enjoy it to the fullest.
What Being Bi Means to Me
Bisexuality simply means that one was born with romantic and or sexual attractions to both sexes.
If the World Knew About Bisexuals
Bisexuals, like homosexuals and heterosexuals, are born the way we are. We cannot change and have no desire to.
My Path to Bisexual Identity
My 1st crush happened at age 11. It was on the cutest tomboy with gorgeous long hair. We met at summer camp. When I quickly discovered it was not a tomboy but a boy, it did not affect my crush at all. I think I first became aware of my bisexuality then. I would go on to have many other crushes on both girls and boys and eventually date and have relationships of various degrees from casual to full, live together as partners, with both sexes. I have my likes and am picky but other than that, the sex of the person was never a concern with me. All that was important was if I were attracted to them?
The Toughest Thing About Being Bi
All the stereotypes and the fact that we catch negativity from both sides of the fence. And OMG, the “You are possessed of demonic spirits & jesus & prayer can redeem you from your wicked, deviant, lifestyle” lot are just so angry and hateful.
The Best Thing About Being Bi
The fact that your experiences come from the both sides of sexuality gives one, I think, a broader, richer, experience.
How People Reacted When I Came Out
Some have been “So what” about it. Sadly there have been some, including close friends and even family who have written me out of their lives simply because I feel and love differently than they do.
