William (The Politician)

William is a guest character on the Netflix YA satirical dramedy show, The Politician. 

William appears in the final episode of the first season as the third to the marriage of New York politician Dede Standish and her husband, Marcus.

During his sole scene in the finale, William consults with and celebrates with his partners about her new inroad to becoming the Vice President. As a group, they discuss how their poly relationship grew out of Marcus’ queerness and desire to express his attraction to multiple genders, and how they all now share an equal attraction to each other. William smartly notes that his connections have saved them from discovery by an anti-polyamorous society, but it may not save them if they step into the national limelight.

William, Dede, and Marcus’ romantic relationship is perhaps the happiest and healthiest of the whole series. While their scene is brief, with the setup of the last scene in the finale it is very likely that these characters— and the nature of their relationship— will come into heavy play in the second season.
