Isn’t bisexuality just a stop on the way to identifying as gay or lesbian?

Absolutely not! While there are some people who identify as bi before coming out as lesbian or gay, there are also many bi people who identify as gay or lesbian before coming out as bi. One could just as easily say that homosexuality is a stepping stone to bisexuality. Obviously, neither statement is accurate or fair.
