Vivienne Medrano
Famous BisVivienne Medrano is an American animator, screenwriter, director, producer, and voice actor. She’s also known by her online handle Vivziepop.
While a student at the School of Visual Arts in New York City, Medrano created a YouTube channel, Vivziepop, where she began posting animated shorts and behind-the-scenes animation content. Her work quickly gained a large following, currently standing at over nine million subscribers on YouTube, with over a billion total views, as well as nearly a million followers on Twitter/X. During this same time, she created a popular webcomic called ZooPhobia, which ran from 2012 to 2016. Medrano also worked as an animator on the Dreamworks series Too Loud (2017–). In 2019, she created the adult-themed animated series Helluva Boss, which has registered more than 465 million views to date.
Also in 2019, Medrano created a pilot for a Helluva Boss spin-off series, Hazbin Hotel, which was picked up by Amazon Prime Video. Its first season was released in January 2024, and, according to Medrano, was the largest global debut for a new animated series on the platform. Hazbin Hotel has received critical acclaim, earning several accolades, including “Series of the Year” at the 2024 Cartoon Base Awards. In 2025, it was nominated for two Annie Awards and received a GLAAD Media Award nomination for Outstanding New Series.
Medrano is openly bi, characterizing herself in a 2024 Los Angeles Times interview as “a queer woman”.
Medrano’s work has earned her a 2020 Webby Award for best video animation and a 2023 Streamy Award for best animated content.
