Vanessa Lee Carlton is an American singer-songwriter and pianist.

Her 2002 debut single, “A Thousand Miles”, reached the top five on the Billboard Hot 100 and spent 41 weeks on the chart, also earning three Grammy nominations. That year, she released her debut album, Be Not Nobody (2002), which went platinum in the US.

Carlton continues writing, touring, and recording. To date, she has six studio albums.

In 2010, Carlton came out as bi while headlining Nashville Pride. She announced, 

I’ve never said this before but, while we’re here and living out loud as we should every single day, I, myself, am a proud bisexual woman.
