Lebo Mathosa
Famous BisLebo Mathosa was a popular South African singer in the 1990s and 2000s. She was one of the few successful female artists in an industry dominated by men. Mathosa’s music fell into the South African kwaito genre. She rose to stardom as one of the lead singers of the group Boom Shaka,[1] and set off on her own in 2000.
Mathosa was a diva and a sex-symbol known for shocking stage attire, earning her the moniker “Madonna of the Townships”.[2]
Lebo Mathosa was openly bi.
In 2006, her life was tragically cut short when she died in a car accident at only 29 years old.
