Gerard Butler is a Scottish actor and film producer. After initially pursuing a career in law, Butler transitioned to acting in the mid-1990s, landing small roles in various productions, including Mrs Brown
(1997), Tomorrow Never Dies (1997), and Tale of the Mummy (1998).

His career took off when he rocked the role of Count Dracula in Dracula 2000 (2000). That gig led to bigger parts, like playing Attila the Hun in the miniseries Attila (2001) and André Marek in Timeline (2003). His turn as Erik, The Phantom, in The Phantom of the Opera (2004) earned him some serious praise and a Satellite Award nomination for Best Actor.

However, his epic portrayal of King Leonidas in Zack Snyder’s 300 (2006) made him a household name worldwide. Butler’s powerful performance earned him nominations for several awards and solidified his status as a leading action star.

Throughout the 2010s, Butler continued to impress audiences with his roles in the How to Train Your Dragon franchise as Stoick the Vast and as Secret Service agent Mike Banning in the Olympus Has Fallen series. He also showcased his versatility in films like Coriolanus
(2011) and Machine Gun Preacher
(2011).

Despite facing some tough times, like losing his home in the Woolsey Fire in California in 2018, Butler remains resilient and continues to thrive in his career.

In a HuffPost article, Gerard Butler revealed that he has had relationships with both men and women, stating that these relationships do not define his sexual orientation.

“I have been in relationships with women. And men. That doesn’t make me gay. That doesn’t make me straight.”
