Frenchie Davis

Famous Bis

Franchell “Frenchie” Davis is an American Broadway performer and singer. She first rose to prominence as a contestant on the second season of American Idol (2002–). She has performed in Rent on broadway and was a member of the cast for four years. She also competed on the first season of The Voice (2011–).

Davis was disqualified early in the second season of American Idol when topless photos taken years earlier resurfaced. There was a later controversy when a season six contestant was allowed to remain on the show despite the revelation of similarly racy photos from her past.

In 2012, Davis spoke openly about her sexuality with the St. Louis Post-Dispatch when she revealed that she had been dating a woman for the past year:

I wasn’t out before the relationship, but I wasn’t in, I dated men and women, though lesbians weren’t feeling the bisexual thing. Now I’m in love with a woman I think I can be with forever.[1]

Frenchie Davis has starred in several musicals, including God Doesn’t Mean You Get To Live Forever (2012) and The View Upstairs (2017), in addition to several films. She has been an advocate for the LGBT community and has openly discussed facing biphobia from both the straight and gay communities.
