Dan Pearce

Famous Bis

Dan Pearce is an American author and writer best known for his popular blog, previously titled “Single Dad Laughing” and since renamed “Dan Pearce Knows Nothing.”

Pearce gained popularity with a viral 2011 essay, “I’m Christian Unless You’re Gay“, which encouraged a nervous teen to come out to his religious mother. Pearce later came out as bisexual to his friends, family, and readers. In his essay “Anything Other Than Straight“, Dan discusses his experiences, his thoughts, and his coming-out process.

Pearce wrote that coming out was exceptionally difficult due to his strict religious upbringing, which ingrained in him the belief that anything other than heterosexuality was unacceptable and would cause his community to reject him. He described an incident at a family dinner where he used an effeminate hand gesture, and his brother’s reaction made it clear that coming out could jeopardize their relationship. Despite these challenges, Pearce has found love and support from a small group of people he trusts.
