Andie Burke is the author of the sapphic romance Fly with Me, published in 2023, and its sequel, Fall for Him (2024). She lives and works in Maryland and has two children.
Burke is publicly out as bisexual. Her Instagram bio styles her as a “whimsically awkward bisexual ginger.” Her work is, likewise, queer-focused; in her Goodreads and Amazon bios, Burke describes her work as “books with queer kissing and happily ever afters.”
Both Fly with Me and Fall for Him include bisexual characters. The former was a 2024 Lambda Literary Award nominee in the category of LGBT romance and erotica. Her work was reviewed by queer site Autostraddle, which praised Fly with Me in a 2023 review, calling the novel “one of the swooniest, funniest, sexiest books I’ve ever read.” The site later included her book in a best queer books of 2023 roundup.
In addition to bisexuality, Burke’s writing also features neurodivergent characters. Burke herself has ADHD and was diagnosed after writing Fly with Me; neurodivergence is a plot point in Fall for Him specifically. Both novels also draw on her experience as a nurse.
Though Burke loves happy endings, her writing also addresses hard topics such as grief, loss, and processing trauma. In an interview with bi.org, she noted that she intentionally intertwines love and sadness in her books “to show that just because other aspects of your life are falling apart doesn’t mean you can’t fall in love, too.”
In short, life — and love — doesn’t happen in a vacuum, and she doesn’t want her characters’ romances to feel disconnected from the rest of their lives. In a 2023 interview with entertainment site The Nerd Daily, Burke similarly noted that “I’ve always loved finding potential humor in my worst-case-scenarios,” which led her to stylistic inclusion of both humor and heavier themes in her books.
Burke has been interviewed in episode 53 of the Happy to Meet Cute! podcast about romance writers, where she discussed querying, debut day, and the layers to sharing and discussing her work with others.
Outside of her writing, Burke is also a fan of Taylor Swift.
