About Me

My name is Thomas and I’m originally from New England, but I now live in Louisiana (ugh!). I’m starting college and I LOVE politics like a lot of people love sports! There really isn’t anything else interesting about me aside from my height (a 5’3″ dude) and that I’m a friendly Yankee.

What Being Bi Means to Me

All being bisexual is is knowing that you have loved both males and females. While by definition I’m really more heteroflexible, I use the term bisexual because it’s considerably less obscure. People already call me a smartass as it is!

If the World Knew About Bisexuals

Really what I would like the world to know is that people are people. We can all agree that we have our own hobbies, interests, and personalities, so why can’t we agree that sexual orientation is unique to each person too, and accept everyone as they are regardless of whom they love and/or find sexually attractive?

My Path to Bisexual Identity

I just found myself gradually checking out and being interested in guys as well as I went through middle school. By high school I identified myself. No big story here. Sorry to disappoint.

The Toughest Thing About Being Bi

Intolerance, particularly by religious fundamentalists. I live in Louisiana, so I can’t be 100% open about it at, say, work (I work in a grocery store). Thankfully I haven’t had problems since I’ve been careful about whom to come out to (but I still come out as freely as is manageable!) .

The Best Thing About Being Bi

Knowing that I have options. I know it may sound cheesy and stereotypical to some, but I just really love knowing that I can pick from a larger selection than many people. But then again, do we really choose whom we love?

How People Reacted When I Came Out

Either positively or neutrally. I’ve been careful not to come out to people who would have a problem with it (I’d say it has about a 95% success rate). I moved towns this past summer and passively mentioned my bisexuality to a neighbor and she not only was very receptive to it, but in fact is bi herself and has several friends at the school who are. I have it on my Facebook profile, so it’s not like I’m truly closeted to anyone, but apparently nobody checks those things.
