Saul Of-Hearts
FacesAbout Me
I’m a writer, videographer, singer-songwriter, and yoga instructor based in Los Angeles, CA. I live in co-operative house called The Open Space with seven other sex-positive people of various orientations. I’m an avid traveler, with a interest in science and evolutionary theory, and I love to bring my academic perspective to crazy counter-cultural activities like Burning Man and community living. What Being Bi Means to Me
I identify mostly as polyamorous. I’m generally attracted to and date women, but I’ve always been fascinated by the variety of sexual orientations and activities out there, and I make it a point to be open to things on a case-by-case basis. In general, I’m open to whatever level of intimacy is right for each friendship or relationship.
If the World Knew About Bisexuals
I don’t particularly relate to the word bisexual. I see it as kind of an umbrella term encompassing heteroflexibility, and some forms of poly- and pan-sexuality. I think it’s important to remember that each person’s approach to sex is different, and we shouldn’t assume that everyone who uses a particular label has exactly the same attractions.
My Path to Bisexual Identity
Burning Man exposed me to a variety of activities (some sexual, others not) that helped me grow comfortable with nudity, touch, and intimacy with both genders. While my preference is toward women, these experiences helped me get over some of the fears and internalized homophobia that I grew up with in Catholic school.
How People Reacted When I Came Out
I don’t really talk about my “orientation” so much as my experiences and let people draw their own conclusions. Some people don’t “get” my take on polyamory and sex-positivity, while others find it mildly interesting but not for them. Luckily, all of the people I currently live with are very open and accepting of sexual diversity.
