About Me

My wife and I currently live in New England where we are restoring an old farm house. I have just retired from a career in military aviation. I have lived all over the world for most of my life. I have more hobbies/interests than I do time to indulge in them. By education, I am a military historian. We have five wonderful children and two grandchildren.

What Being Bi Means to Me

Being bisexual means that I am attracted to both male and female and enjoy intimacy with both. But at the same time I am monogamous now. I guess it is just a state of mind.

If the World Knew About Bisexuals

We are about as normal as you can find. There are probably way more of us than you think.

My Path to Bisexual Identity

When I was ten, I attended a military school where I learned all the pejorative names for people and activities that are shared by two men. I never shared the paranoia that my classmates had. When I was 19 and in the military, I had a very close friend, but we never did anything. When I was thirty-one, I had a date with a man and was so nervous that it was not very enjoyable. I tried again at age 40 and it was a lot better. For the next five years I dated men. Then I met my wife and we got married.

The Toughest Thing About Being Bi

Everyone I know seems to think if you are bi then you want to be with the gender that they are not. That thought that you must be lying is very strong among my friends and family.

The Best Thing About Being Bi

I just feel a greater sense of empathy with both genders.

How People Reacted When I Came Out

My wife understands that I am bi, but also that I am monogamous with her. My children have known for years that I dated men once, they are modern enough to not care.
