Sarah Manning

Bi Characters

BBC America

Sarah Manning, played by Tatiana Maslany, is the first sister clone that we meet in the show “Orphan Black.” She is also in the limited comic series of the same name, both created by John Fawcett, Graeme Manson, and Jody Houser as co-writer for the comic series.

Sarah witnesses a woman who looks exactly like her commit suicide by jumping in front of a train. Sarah learns that the woman was a detective named Beth and decides to adopt her identity.

As the series progresses, Sarah discovers that she is one of many clones spread across Europe and North America. Together they work to solve the mystery of their existence.

Although some of the clones are bi, fans were only left to speculate about Sarah’s bisexuality throughout the series. She dates a number of men, but in season 4, she goes to a bar and has a threesome with a man and a woman. Although it isn’t the healthiest moment for her, it is also apparent that this is not her first time kissing a woman.

At a comic-con panel, Maslany was asked about Sarah’s sexuality. To the question, “Girls, boys?” she answered, “Obviously both.”
