Rick Sanchez is one of the titular characters in the animated comedy series Rick and Morty (2013-), originally airing on the Adult Swim section of programming on Cartoon Network.
Rick is a genius scientist who discovered space travel after the death of his wife, abandoning his daughter for decades. He reappears years later and often brings members of his daughter’s family along on his intergalactic exploits, chiefly his grandson Morty.
In the second season episode “Auto Erotic Assimilation”, it is revealed when Rick runs into UNITY, a parasitic hivemind entity that takes over planets’ civilizations, that the two used to date. In the course of the episode, Rick happily gets it on with any gender of the planet UNITY is currently absorbing. While Rick is brilliant and unabashedly pan, he is an amoral and verbally abusive alcoholic to those he loves. Still, he is a rare example of male bisexuality on television, cartoon, or live-action.
