Marcus Standish

Marcus Standish is a guest character on the Netflix YA satirical dramedy show, The Politician. Marcus appears in the final episode of the first season as the loving husband of New York politician Dede Standish.

During his sole scene in the finale, Marcus consults with and celebrates with his wife about her new inroad to becoming the Vice President. They are joined by the third in their “throuple,” William, where they discuss how their poly relationship grew out of Marcus’ queerness and desire to express his attraction to multiple genders.

Their romantic relationship is perhaps the happiest and healthiest of the whole series. While their story is brief in the finale, with the setup of the final scene it is very likely that these characters— and the nature of their relationship— will come into heavy play in the second season.
