Kelly Chambers

Bi Characters

Image/IGN

Kelly Chambers appears in the Mass Effect video game series (notably Mass Effect 2 and with a cameo in Mass Effect 3). She serves as the yeoman aboard the Normandy SR2, acting as Shepard’s administrative assistant and psychological counselor. Importantly, Kelly is romanceable by both male and female Shepard, making her a bisexual romantic option in the series.

Her backstory is relatively minimal in official lore. Kelly holds a degree in psychology and was recruited by Cerberus to serve on the Normandy. Her role blends administrative duties and emotional support for the crew: she monitors mission impacts on the crew’s mental states and offers perspective on interpersonal dynamics.

During Mass Effect 2, Kelly helps Shepard stay informed about crew activity, passes along e-mails and requests, and supports morale. If Shepard flirts with her and survives the Collector abduction sequence by timely action, a romantic path may be initiated, culminating in a private dinner and further intimate interactions aboard the Utopia Planitia. In Mass Effect 3, if Kelly survives and certain conditions are met (such as her identity change), she can appear on the Citadel among refugees, revealing her defection from Cerberus and her ongoing struggles with trauma from past events.
