Helene Norris is the main character of Françoise Mallet-Joris’ debut novel, Le Rempart des Béguines. 

As a teenager, she visits her father’s mistress, a Russian emigre named Tamara, and starts up a torrid affair with her. 

The novel was adapted into a film by French writer/director Guy Casaril in 1972.
