Heather Cooper is one of the main characters in the 2001 romantic-comedy Kissing Jessica Stein. Heather is a manager at a contemporary New York art gallery who embarks on a relationship with perfectionist Jessica Stein (Jennifer Westfeldt) after placing a personal ad in the “women seeking” women section of the newspaper. Heather is played by Heather Juergensen, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Westfeldt.
While this is the first time Jessica has explored a same-sex relationship, she is a confident bisexual woman confident in her sexual prowess. Though it is refreshing to see a woman comfortable with her sexual fluidity (especially considering when this film was made), there are times when it seems like Heather is defined only by her sexual appetite or her budding relationship with Jessica.
