Grace is one of the two main characters in the Netflix comedy series, Grace & Frankie (2015-2022). Grace is played by Jane Fonda.
Grace is a high-strung but funny and brilliant entrepreneur whose life gets upended when her husband Robert (Martin Sheen) reveals to her and her frenemy Frankie (Lily Tomlin), who is married to Sol (Sam Waterston), that he and Sol are leaving the women to be with each other. During the show’s fifth season, Grace reveals during a platonic sleepover with Frankie that she has kissed women before she got married. Though she does not use the term “bisexual,” in the context of the scene Grace just relayed a story of the life her mother could have lived, so this feels less like queerbaiting and more like mentioning attractions she wishes she could have pursued.
Though Grace is not well drawn as a queer character, she is an exceptional character study for storylines for older people, displaying agency and power over her life as a sexual being.
