Frank Underwood
Bi CharactersFrancis Joseph “Frank” Underwood is the main character of the Netflix political drama House of Cards, and is portrayed by American actor Kevin Spacey.
Underwood is more than a little morally gray; he is a ruthless politician unafraid to manipulate (and even murder) to get his way to the top. Across the first five seasons, the show chronicles Underwood’s journey to President of the United States. Viewers had a love-to-hate relationship with the character, in equal parts wanting him to fail and desperate to see how he would succeed. He has been described as sociopathic and narcissistic, as he is able to put on a caring facade in order to win over those he wishes to control or coerce. The one person he appears to hold a true affection for is his wife, Claire Underwood. In ways they are both as bad as each other, constantly sacrificing one another for their own career gains.
Across the five seasons that Underwood features in, he is shown to have flirtatious and sexual relationships with both men and women. Whilst he is married to Claire, they are not monogamous, sleeping with other people and one occasion having a threesome with another man. Though he is never formally labeled as “bisexual” on the show, there’s more than enough proof in the pudding to say that he’s bi.
