Proinsias Cassidy (show)

Proinsias Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) is a vice-loving Irish vampire who joins Jesse and Tulip in the AMC show Preacher. 

Although the show and character are based on the graphic novels of the same name, the storylines are very different between the two. Cassidy is not bi in the comics. The rest of this will be talking about the show Preacher. 

Cassidy meets Jesse Custer in Texas and the two quickly become friends. They are joined by Tulip and hunt to find God in order to explain Jesse’s mysterious powers. 

Cassidy is a brawling alcoholic, who is often the comedian of the group. Early on, he falls in love with Tulip and pines for her throughout the series. 

In season three, we also meet Eccarius, a male vampire who teaches Cassidy what it means to be a vampire, and also become his lover. 

Cassidy bisexuality is never a big conflict for himself or other characters. Everyone just accepts that he’s a vampire who loves men and women.
