Bilquis (played by Yetide Badaki) is one of the Old Gods, an ancient goddess of love and sexuality who feeds off her followers to keep her eternally young and powerful.

She is a recurring character on American Gods, a fantasy drama series based on Neil Gaiman’s 2001 novel of the same name. Bilquis can also create supernatural feelings of attraction that she uses to seduce men and women frequently in order to preserve her youthfulness.

She craves worship in the form of ritualistic sexual encounters that end with her “consuming” her victims, and she shows no preference on the sex or gender of her victims as long as they worship her. She has continued this ritual for centuries, and despite being sexual with men and women, does not form any type of emotional connection with anyone.

Recently Yetide Badaki, who plays Bilquis, came out as bi, citing the show as the help she needed to come out.[1]
