Annalise Keating

Annalise Keating, portrayed by Viola Davis, is the main character of ABC's How to Get Away with Murder.

We learn that in law school she was in a long-term relationship with Eve Rothlo. They remained together until Annalise falls in love with her therapist, Sam Keating. Eventually, Annalise leaves Eve, Sam leaves his wife, and the two get married. 

She goes on to become a prominent criminal defense attorney and law professor. During the show, she selects five promising students to help her work on her cases and together they get involved in a number of criminal activities and cover-ups. She goes on to work with Eve on a case and they rekindle their old flame. 

Through flashbacks and incidents in the present day, we learn more about Annalise Keating's relationships with both Eve and Sam. She is also involved with Detective Nate Lahey who is eventually blamed for her husband's murder.
