Adrian Fahrenheit Ţepeş, better known as Alucard, is a character from the Castlevania video game series as well as its Netflix adaptation (2017–2021). The son of the vampire Dracula and human woman Lisa, Alucard’s name is “Dracula” spelled backward.
Having been taught by his mother not to hate humanity, Alucard joins with allies to fight his villainous father, Dracula. He appears throughout the game franchise and is the main protagonist of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (1997) as well as a major character in the Netflix adaptation, Castlevania.
In the Netflix series, Alucard (voiced by James Callis) encounters Taka and Sumi, a young man and woman who were formerly enslaved by a vampire.
Alucard agrees to teach them everything he knows about vampire hunting, but the two aren’t satisfied. Convinced that Alucard is withholding magical knowledge from them, they seduce and later betray him. For a time, however, Alucard is sublimely happy to be having sex with Taka and Sumi.
Samuel Deats, the director of the Netflix series, clarified the events of the show as follows:
I apologize if this wasn't clear enough in the end product, but Alucard IS reciprocating and happy at that moment, and his tears were of joy. But given they were there to kill him, it's definitely bad.
