Adrian Fahrenheit Ţepeş, better known as Alucard, is a character from the Castlevania video game series and its Netflix adaptations, Castlevania (2017-2021) and Castlevania: Nocturne (2023-). The son of the vampire Dracula and the human woman Lisa, Alucard’s name is “Dracula” spelled backward, symbolizing his role as his father’s opposite.

Raised by his mother to reject hatred for humanity, Alucard joins forces with allies, including Trevor Belmont and Sypha Belnades, to stand against his father, the infamous Dracula. He is a recurring character throughout the Castlevania game franchise and serves as the main protagonist in Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (1997). Alucard also plays a central role in the critically acclaimed Netflix adaptation of Castlevania, where his internal struggle between his human compassion and vampiric nature is explored in greater depth.
As the son of Dracula, Alucard possesses a wide range of supernatural abilities, including shape-shifting, enhanced strength, and mastery of dark magic, making him one of the most powerful figures in the Castlevania universe.

In the Netflix series, Alucard (voiced by James Callis) struggles with isolation and loneliness after parting ways with Trevor and Sypha. He later encounters Taka and Sumi, a young man and woman who were formerly enslaved by a vampire. Alucard agrees to teach them everything he knows about hunting vampires, but they grow dissatisfied, believing he is withholding magical knowledge. They seduce him and ultimately betray him in their pursuit of power. For a brief time, however, Alucard is deeply happy in his sexual relationship with Taka and Sumi.
Samuel Deats, the director of the Netflix series, clarified the events of the show as follows:
