Tony Stark is a wealthy businessman and tech genius. When he is kidnapped and injured, his kidnappers try to force him to create a weapon of mass destruction. Instead, Stark makes a suit of armor that allows him to escape and become the superhero Iron Man.
He learns that when he was injured, a piece of shrapnel lodged in his heart that he cannot remove and so he is forced to always wear the breastplate of his Iron Man suit under his clothes to keep him alive.
Stark is an uncommon hero because he has no special abilities. He is a genius engineer, chemist, physicist, and more. He is also a skilled businessman who is very good at manipulating people, and a charming playboy whose romantic exploits are frequently featured in his stories.
Although Tony has never talked about being bi, there are some pretty clear hints in the comics. They show men and women responding to Stark's dating app. Then when the app is shut down, we see this panel.
