Sundance Kid (Robert Redford) is one of the two titular characters in the 1969 Western comedy, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.

Sundance is a bank robber who partners with his friend, Butch Cassidy (Paul Newman). While he is a man of few words, Sundance is dryly witty when he does manage to speak up — and an excellent shot, besides. When he and Butch hit the same banker’s train one time too many, they start off on a long retreat from some relentless bounty hunters.

Sundance has a long-standing romance with local schoolteacher, Etta (Katharine Ross). But his bromance with Butch, which often gets him into life-and-death situations, can easily be read as the greater romance of the film.
