Baron Maximilan von Heune (played by Helmut Griem) is a supporting character of the 1972 musical Cabaret, based on the Broadway musical of the same name.
After meeting American club singer Sally Bowles in 1930s Berlin, rich playboy Max invites her and her boyfriend, the British writer Brian, for a weekend away from the city. The three soon enter a closed triad relationship. This is one of the first mainstream examples of male bisexuality in film after the fall of the Hays Code. While Max is not a well-drawn character, the inclusion of his sexuality was a watershed moment in queer representation in American film.
