Ambrose Spellman is a warlock and one of the main characters of the Netflix show The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (2018-present).
He is Sabrina's (Kiernan Shipka) cousin from England. As a warlock, he is much older than he appears. After the murder of his father, Ambrose painted with the surrealists and taught Houdini stage magic. Eventually, he fell in with Aleister Crowley and his followers. This led to his attempting to blow up the Vatican. He was the only plotter that was caught and because he refused to give up his co-conspirators, he was placed under house arrest. Now he cannot leave the Spellman funeral home, which sometimes complicates his dating life, but somehow he still manages.
He is always ready with a witty quip and a double entendre, although this clever personality often seems to be how he hides depression and loneliness.
He is also unashamedly sexual and pursues both men and women. He has a brief fling with Prudence Blackwood (Tati Gabrielle), Sabrina's nemesis at school, and is clearly attracted to her. At least until they become enemies and then allies — go watch the show for the whole story.
He also dates fellow warlock Luke Chalfant (Darren Mann). They meet at the funeral of another warlock, Connor. Ambrose invites Luke to meet Connor's iguana to which Luke responds "maybe later". That evening, he appears at Ambrose's window and the two fall into bed together. Although Ambrose wakes up alone, he sees that Luke has carved his phone number into the ceiling. At the time, Ambrose was not permitted to leave the house due to a binding spell, and his new relationship with Luke allows for the house arrest to be lifted.
