FacesAbout Me
I am 43. I am in an opposite sex relationship and we have been married for 13 years. We have two daughters who are 3 and 7 years old. I am out and have been since I was 20. I live in Louisville, KY and work in Indiana. I am a Licensed Social Worker and an Outpatient Therapist in Community Mental Health. I have a Bachelors Degree in Mythopoetics. I have a “concentration” in Gender Studies at the Masters Level, which in fact means I am only 4 classes away from having a second Masters Degree. I am also an Ordained Minister with the Universal Life Church, but that doesn’t come up much. I have been a Shambhala Buddhist for over 10 years. I’m a HUGE comic book, science fiction, fantasy, and role-playing geek. I also write, draw, and create role-playing games as hobbies.
What Being Bi Means to Me
I identify as cisgenderfluid queer pansexual bear. My queerness/bisexuality/pansexuality means that I acknowledge that while it is necessary to have ways to conceptualize and even compartmentalize our experience both internally and externally through language, these actions are a deliberate, even if they are conditioned and automatic, mechanism of consciousness in response to experience and are not the experiences themselves. By accepting that boundaries are there to help and not hinder me and that since I create them I can control them, by acknowledging their permeability or fluidity I open myself up to what is for an ever expanding experience of myself sensually and spiritually, which includes emotionally, and viscerally, which for me means my embodied, gendered, experience.
