Bill Pargrave

Bill Pargrave, is a character portrayed by David Haig in Killing Eve (2018-2022). Bill, once Eve’s superior at MI5, showcases a rare blend of qualities as a sympathetic boss who remains magnanimous even after being demoted to Eve Polastri’s subordinate who becomes a symbol of how the spy game can mess you up, personally and on the job.

In the chaos of a demanding home life with his independently wealthy wife, Keiko, and their newborn daughter, Bill finds solace at work where his dry sense of humor and genuine warmth shine through, especially in his relationship with Eve. Having worked together for over a decade, Bill and her share a strong bond. He supports Eve even when her ideas sound outlandish, displaying a great sense of humor and a dismissive attitude toward her occasional conspiracy theories.

Despite potential stereotypes, Bill emerges as a sexually fluid middle-aged gentleman. In a memorable moment, he candidly shares the complexities of his personal life describing his deep love and attraction to his wife while comfortably revealing his past experiences with ‘hundreds’ of men. David Haig’s portrayal delivers the character’s sexual fluidity with nonchalant authenticity, turning this moment into a triumphant and affirming experience.
