Cary Conrad was a character in the third season of the Netflix show You. Cary and his wife Sherry are social media influencers dedicated to “optimizing” their lives.
From the beginning, Cary is obsessed with the emotional and physical health of the men in the neighborhood. Frequently his shirtless attention to Joe walks the line between fitness guru and flirtation.
Eventually, Sherry confides in Joe’s wife, Love, that the couple are swingers and would like to have sex with Joe and Love. They all enter into negotiations together, talking about what each person would be comfortable with sexually. Cary reveals that he’s bi, saying, “some don’t understand that a bisexual man is a truly optimized man.”
In the end, Cary might be a shallow, obsessed, hot mess, but at least he got one thing right.
