Jane Wiedlin is an American musician and singer, known for being the co-founder, rhythm guitarist, and backup vocalist for the band The Go-Gos. To a younger audience, she is known for being the drummer and backup vocalist of the Scooby-Doo fictional rock band The Hex Girls.

Her contribution to The Go-Go’s helped shape the landscape of new wave music, catapulting the band to immense success in the 1980s. She, along with her bandmates, received a coveted star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Additionally, in 2021, both Wiedlin and The Go-Go’s were honored with induction into the prestigious Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Wiedlin had a brief acting career which included an officer seen on a Starfleet Command video screen in Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986), an ill-fated singing telegram girl in Clue (1985), the White Fairy in Golan-Globus’s Sleeping Beauty (1987) and as Joan of Arc in Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure (1989). She did not return to television until 2001, when she had a recurring role in MTV’s Spyder Games (2001), where she played the edgy rocker chick who runs the local coffee shop where the characters hang out.

In 2005, audiences were treated to an authentic portrayal of Jane Wiedlin when she starred in the fourth season of The Surreal Life (2003-).

Throughout her career, Wiedlin has ventured into various acting roles, ranging from playing Bruce Wayne’s girlfriend to paying homage to film noir women in prison dramas.

Wiedlin has always been an animal rights activist, and has worked with PETA since 1989, even performing as part of “Rock Against Fur”.

She candidly discusses her past struggles with mental health and suicidal ideation. Openly acknowledging the impact of fame on her mental well-being, she has shared her journey of lacking adequate coping mechanisms.

Often overlooked in her punk rock persona, she holds the title of ordained minister within the Universal Life Church, proudly known as “Reverend Sister Go-Go”. Utilizing this role predominantly for officiating weddings, she brings a unique touch to ceremonies.

Wiedlin is proudly bi. She has talked many times about her past relationships with men and women, making sure to clarify that she is still bi, but simply monogamous and married.
