Carole Baskin became a household name after being heavily featured in the 2020 Netflix documentary Tiger King.
She is the CEO of Big Cat Rescue, a nonprofit animal sanctuary outside of Tampa, Florida. She has spent years lobbying Congress to stop the private trade and ownership of big cats.
She petitioned various venues to stop hosting traveling cub petting shows done by Joe Exotic, causing him to lose a number of gigs. This kicked off a long and involved legal battle that is partially recounted on Tiger King.

She also competed in the 29th season of Dancing With the Stars, dancing to various cat-themed songs including “Eye of the Tiger” and “What’s New Pussycat.” She was eliminated in the third week.
