Nick Novak is a Czech-American freestyle skier who competes in aerials. He grew up in a gymnastics-focused family, and his parents, Jaroslav and Jaroslava, were national team trampolinists in former Czechoslovakia. They escaped Communist rule in the 1980s, eventually settling in the United States, where they established Novak’s Gymnastics in Virginia. Growing up in this environment, Novak and his brothers were immersed in gymnastics from an early age.
Novak’s transition to aerial skiing began during his freshman year of high school when he was recruited into the Elite Aerial Development Program (EADP) in Lake Placid, New York. This opportunity allowed him to combine his gymnastics background with skiing, leading to a successful career in freestyle aerials. He has competed in numerous World Cup events, achieving several top-10 finishes, and earned a bronze medal at the U.S. Championships in 2018.
In addition to his athletic pursuits, Novak has cultivated a significant social media presence. With nearly 1 million followers on TikTok and over 130,000 on Instagram, he shares glimpses of his training, competitions, and personal life, including moments with his boyfriend, Calvin. Novak has been open about his bisexuality on these platforms. Novak represented the Czech Republic in men’s aerials at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina. Competing under the name Nicholas Novak, he was the sole male aerialist for Czechia at the Games.
