Wren Brier is an Australian game artist and designer. She’s the Creative Director of the award-winning indie game Unpacking (2021).

Brier started working in the game industry at Halfbrick and later as a freelance artist before partnering with Witch Beam Games to bring Unpacking to life. Wren is a member of the GDC Independent Games Summit Advisory Board and runs Women in Games Brisbane — helping female developers connect and support each other.

Wren’s interests include crafts, small animals, cute stationery, and making lists. She lives with her boyfriend Tim Dawson, co-creator of Unpacking. When creating Unpacking, she reflected a lot of her own life experience, although she flipped the story to avoid bi erasure.

This is a very personal game and [bisexuality] is a part of my life.

Unpacking was highly successful, receiving acclaim from both the gaming community and critics alike. It garnered over 20 awards for Brer, including two BAFTA Games Awards, a Eurogamer award, and recognition as the Best LGBTQ Indie Game at the Gayming Awards.
