John Lennon was an English singer, songwriter, and activist best known as one of the founding members of the British rock group The Beatles.

Lennon was born on October 9th, 1940, in Liverpool, England. After meeting Paul McCartney in 1957 and inviting him to start a musical group, Lennon formed what is still considered one of the most successful songwriting relationships in history. [1]

The Beatles released their first song, “Love Me Do” in 1962 and quickly became one of the most culturally impactful groups of their generation.

In addition to his work with The Beatles, Lennon started the Plastic Ono Band with his wife, Yoko Ono, in 1969, and after The Beatles disbanded in 1970, he continued as a solo artist and as a collaborator with Ono.

Together they created what might be one of Lennon's most iconic songs, "Imagine".

There had been numerous rumors that John Lennon had a fling with producer Brian Epstein. Although he denied it in interviews, friends of Lennon's claim that he had in fact had had some kind of an affair with Epstein.[2]

On December 8th, 1980, Lennon left from a photoshoot with Ono for Rolling Stone and went straight to the studio to work on some new recordings. Later that night, on his return to his home, he was attacked by a self-proclaimed superfan, Mark David Chapman, who shot and killed Lennon as he entered the lobby.

Yoko Ono has said the she and John Lennon were in agreement that everyone is pretty much “born bisexual”, and that we are taught to limit ourselves at a young age due to community and cultural pressures. [3] Ono went on to say,

I think he had a desire to, but I think he was too inhibited... No, not inhibited. He said, "I don’t mind if there’s an incredibly attractive guy." It’s very difficult: they would have to be not just physically attractive, but mentally very advanced too. And you can’t find people like that.
