Keith Dwayne Charles (played by Mathew St. Patrick) is David's main love interest over the course of the series. When they meet at a gay-friendly church, Keith is a policeman. Although he tolerates the fact that David is in the closet, it does lead to tension.
Their relationship is off and on throughout the series. During one of their "off" times, Keith has a brief fling with pop star Celeste. In combination with Keith's trauma from a carjacking, this leads to a lot of the tension between the two.
By the end of the series, they are married and have two boys.
