Madison Jackson is the main character in Gaby Dunn’s debut graphic novel, Bury the Lede. Madison is a college intern training as a cub reporter at the fictional Boston newspaper, The Boston Lede.

She arrives early on the scene of a grisly murder of a high-end businessman (allegedly) by his wife, the beautiful but mysterious Dahlia Kennedy. Through a series of interviews with Dahlia, Madison starts to unravel a story far bigger than the murder at hand — while she strives to be seen as a reporter first, and a source second.

Smart and resourceful to the point of being ruthless, Madison starts up relationships with both men and women throughout the course of the novel, revealing to one of them that she is bi as well. As an Asian-American woman, Madison is also a rare example of a bi lead character in a graphic novel who is also a woman of color.
