Mabel Mora (Selena Gomez) is a character in the Hulu original show Only Murders in the Building. Along with her friends Charles-Haden Savage (Steve Martin) and Oliver Putnam (Martin Short), she attempts to solve the murders of two of her childhood friends while also creating a crime podcast about the experience.

Mabel is an aspiring artist who is staying at her aunt’s apartment at the Arconia, a fictional historic New York apartment building. Although she grew up modestly on Long Island, she would often visit her wealthy aunt at the Arconia. It was there that she met and bonded with a group of children over the Hardy Boys. Together they would pretend to find clues and solve murders.

When one of them dies, another, Oscar, is convicted of killing her. Although he maintains his innocence he spends ten years in jail for the crime. Upon his release, Mabel and Oscar are reunited. He joins Charles, Oliver, and Mabel in trying to solve the crime of a recent murder in the Arconia. Oscar and Mabel also begin a romantic relationship, which seems to be heading somewhere at the end of season one.

Season one ends with Mabel being framed for the murder of Bunny, another Arconia resident.

As season two opens, the three podcasters are trying to solve the new murder and prove their innocence. When asked about her relationship with Oscar, she simply responds, "The trauma bond is strong but I think Oscar and I are just both waiting for the ‘Let’s just be friends’ text."

With Oscar out of the way, Mabel is free to meet artist and gallery owner Alice (played by Cara Delevingne).

Alice invites Mabel to the gallery and shows her a statue that she had made. The statue is meant to represent Mabel and invites Mabel to destroy the statue. After smashing the statue, the two share a kiss.

The two are briefly happy together and seem like a pretty happy couple until Mabel finds Alice recreating Bunny’s murder for her art. Mabel accuses Alice of only wanting to get close to her because of the murder.

Although their relationship is brief, it makes it pretty clear that Mabel is indeed bisexual. She doesn’t seem to think that the fact that she is kissing a woman is a big deal, and there isn’t any self-doubt or big coming out. She is simply bi.

Charles and Oliver take a second to process that Mabel is now dating a woman and also quickly move on to more important murder/podcast things.
