Kassandra the Eagle-Bearer is one of the possible protagonists of the 11th major installment of the Assassin’s Creed franchise — Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey (2018). Kassandra is a misthios (mercenary) in war-torn Greece during the Peloponnesian war. Players have the freedom to choose either Kassandra or a male mercenary, Alexios, as their protagonist.

Kassandra, the granddaughter of the famous Leonidas and proclaimed 'Messenger of Zeus' due to her beloved pet eagle, Ikaros, struggles throughout the game to stay true to her Spartan heritage while fighting against a system that cast her out from her home due to outdated laws and ideals held in the powerful city-state. During her quest to find her scattered family across the islands of Greece and reunite them, Kassandra encounters a wide range of obstacles and challenges, facing mythological beasts like the Nemean Lion and being thrust into lavish, hedonistic parties where Ancient Greek sexual openness and acceptance of all sexual fluidity are showcased.

Odyssey is the first game in the franchise to offer complete freedom in expressing romantic interests, irrespective of the gender of your character, presenting both male and female characters for players to pursue. While most of these relationships consist of nothing more than a few flirtatious comments or a one-night stand, there are instances where players can develop deeper connections with various minor characters throughout the game.

One notable example of a more meaningful relationship that can be developed is between Kassandra and the leader of the Daughters of Artemis, Daphnae. Unlike most other NPCs who readily engage in romantic encounters with the protagonist either immediately or after completing a few quests, Daphnae and Kassandra's relationship starts off on uncertain footing. Through numerous requests and trials, we witness the stoic and stubborn leader of the Daughters of Artemis gradually develop feelings for Kassandra — and reciprocally, Kassandra for Daphnae.

This dynamic unfolds through a series of realistic interactions, marked by witty banter, playful puns, and instances of "awkward bisexuality", which serves as a refreshing departure from the protagonist's otherwise seemingly effortless romantic pursuits with other NPCs. This slow-burn style relationship proves to be one of the most compelling to follow, though it ultimately concludes in a tragic manner that deeply resonates with players.

Daphnae

Another fun relationship to follow is that of Kassandra and Alkibiades, though it's really more of a casual fling than any lasting relationship unless you follow a very specific set of questlines in a certain order. The first time we encounter Alkibiades, he is quite drunk at a party hosted by none other than Perikles, and after some chatting and a bit of convincing– and a rather unexpected quest to go fetch some oil— Alkibiades and Kassandra end up as willing participants in a foursome. Unlike most other romantic encounters, you can continue to encounter Alkibiades, and he and Kassandra grow emotionally closer with each meeting in addition to often being able to relax and let off some steam with the other. They even have pet names for each other~ "Kassie" and "Alki".

Alkibiades

Another entertaining relationship to follow is the one between Kassandra and Alkibiades, although it tends to lean more towards a casual fling rather than a lasting romance unless players pursue a specific sequence of quests. Their first encounter sees Alkibiades inebriated at a party hosted by Perikles. After some conversation and persuasion — and an unexpected quest to retrieve oil — Kassandra and Alkibiades find themselves as willing participants in a foursome. Unlike many other romantic interactions in the game, encounters with Alkibiades can continue, leading to emotional growth and a growing bond between him and Kassandra with each subsequent meeting. Their relationship is characterized by moments of relaxation and camaraderie, often accompanied by affectionate pet names like "Kassie" and 'Alki".
