Aaron H. Aceves is a bi Mexican-American author from East Los Angeles who penned This Is Why They Hate Us (2022), following a high school senior determined to move on from his unrequited feelings for his best friend by exploring new romantic avenues.

Currently residing in Texas, he serves as an Early Career Provost Fellow at UT Austin. Aceves made waves with his debut young adult novel, This Is Why They Hate Us, published by Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers, garnering multiple starred reviews and named a Best Young Adult Book of 2022 by Kirkus Reviews. 

Drawing from his own experiences as a bi Chicano, Aceves brings much-needed representation to the genre. A big cat lover and queer Christian, Aceves finds inspiration in diverse voices and stories. His writing process, marked by periods of intense productivity, reflects his dedication to crafting authentic and engaging narratives. With a penchant for humor and dialogue, Aceves is poised to make a lasting impact in the YA literary world.
