About Me

I am an artist and fiction writer who lives in the suburbs 20 minutes from Tacoma and 30 minutes from Seattle. My parents and two brothers live nearby. I work out of my home and have a best friend in Kentucky. We talk on the phone every day for hours at a time. For my Bachelor’s Degree I went to The Evergreen State College in Olympia. I love painting in watercolor and going to the park. My favorite TV shows are Mystery Science Theater 3000, Murder She Wrote, Columbo, and the anime Dragonball, to name a few.

What Being Bi Means to Me

Being attracted to and wanting to build deep relationships with both men and women.

If the World Knew About Bisexuals

Whether we say anything or not, we feel romantic feelings for both genders. Also, it’s not every person of both genders! I have a type of woman and a type of man I’m attracted to.

My Path to Bisexual Identity

The first time I knew something was going on was in high school gym class, when all the girls were undressing around me. I was expected to undress too and keep my eyes to myself and it was really uncomfortable. I mean, imagine like thirty hot people who probably hate you doing a strip tease in order to make you feel inadequate. I was not popular in high school, and this sense of awkwardness around other girls, who should have been my friends by the general estimation of adults around me, really hampered me. rnThen I saw porn online featuring eighteen and nineteen year old girls (girls roughly my age at the time). It was like a donkey kicking me through the screen. I just knew.

The Toughest Thing About Being Bi

Bisexuality being fictional, or “just a phase”, as my mom said. People flat out not believing in bisexuality is the hardest. It makes me feel so crazy and alone sometimes.

The Best Thing About Being Bi

Being able to appreciate humanity as a whole and understand why anyone is attracted to anyone else. I’m a writer, and I can use my understanding to write a wide variety of romance scenarios.

How People Reacted When I Came Out

I’ve only come out to a few people. My mom, more than once. She shot me down every single time. My boyfriend, who then became my husband because he’s so understanding (plus a lot of other great things, like being kind and an animal lover). He was shocked that I told him I was attracted to women, too, and he instantly told me it was okay. My best friend in Kentucky knows, too, and she’s also been great. She accepted me immediately.
