Megan Stalter is an actress and comedian, best known for her breakout role as an overconfident manager’s assistant in the HBO show Hacks.
Born and raised in Cleveland and Dayton, Ohio, Stalter is the oldest of four kids. She was part of a Pentecostal church (and is now a practicing Christian) and joined the high school drama club, always trying out for parts in the school plays but never landing the lead. After a brief stint in college, she left for Chicago and then to New York in 2019 to try her hand at comedic acting again. This time she had much more success, performing multiple times a week, landing a manager, and, that same year, joining the cast and writing staff of the National Lampoon Radio Hour reboot. She began to gain traction online when, during the COVID-19 pandemic, she would go on Instagram Live every night and improvise different characters and other online sketches. One of Stalter’s most viral videos was a TikTok called “Corporations this month #pride,” in which she skewered corporations for engaging in rainbow capitalism.
Regarding her bisexuality, Stalter has discussed its evolution multiple times. In a 2025 interview with Glamour magazine, the actress got candid regarding her sexuality, which she identifies as bisexual. She stated that she never experienced judgment from the LGBTQ community while growing up, though she also wasn’t aware of other LGBTQ people at her church. At the time, she hadn’t yet recognized her own sexuality and assumed she was straight, despite being bi.
I didn’t know, at the time, that I was gay… I thought I was straight — because I’m bi — and so I just didn’t even think about it.
After moving to New York and beginning to date more seriously, Stalter says she gained a clearer understanding of her attraction to women. She realized relationships with women felt more natural and let her connect in a different way.
Stalter is currently in a relationship with a girlfriend, although she prefers not to share details about their relationship. She does, however, have plenty of affection for her partner.

Stalter has also won awards and honors for her work as Kayla in Hacks, from a Critics’ Choice Award to the Vanguard Award at the 2026 Queerty Awards.
In addition to her work on Hacks, Stalter starred as the lead in the Netflix romantic comedy series Too Much, written by Lena Dunham. She is also a singer and will release her debut album in 2026. She has also made her Broadway debut in July 2026 as the titular role of Mary Todd Lincoln in Oh, Mary!.
