Havana Rose Liu is an actress, model, and designer best known for her role and rising to fame as Isabel in the comedy movie Bottoms (2023). She is of European descent on her mother’s side and Chinese on her father’s.
As a child, Havana enjoyed dancing, although in various interviews, she has stated that she never set out to become an actress. Rather, she describes it as a “fluke”, as she was discovered by a talent agent while walking out in the streets of New York. This interaction opened the door for modeling jobs and, later, her acting career.
While working as a model, Havana Rose appeared on the cover of Vogue Italia and was represented by IMG Models, one of the biggest international model management houses renowned for their vast rolodex of diverse and famous models.
Havana Rose has previously mentioned that she enjoys looking through life from an “artist” perspective and likes to challenge herself in creative fields, which led her to pursue a Bachelor of Arts at New York University.
Her acting debut was in the action movie Mayday (2021) as the character Bea. She also appeared in the Netflix series The Chair (2021), The Sky is Everywhere (2022), No Exit (2022), and was praised for her comedic delivery as Isabel in Bottoms, a movie about two lesbian high school outcasts who get the idea to start a fight club in their school as an excuse to hook up with other girls.
While doing the press tour for the movie Bottoms, she stated in a Q&A interview for SXSW Film & TV Red Carpet that she identified as pansexual.
I’m pansexual and I would say that [my character] Isabel is too, by my choice.
Havana is set to have a role in the upcoming television series Hal & Harper alongside Mark Ruffalo and Lili Reinhart, set to release in late 2025.
