Crystal Chappell

Famous Bis

Crystal Chappell is an American actress known for her soap opera roles as Carly Manning on Days of Our Lives (1965–), Maggie Carpenter on One Life to Live (1968–2013), and Olivia Spencer on Guiding Light (1952—2009). She has since appeared on The Bold and the Beautiful (1987–), as well as in several online soap operas.

In 2009, she co-created the online show Venice the Series (2009–), for which she won Daytime Emmy Awards in 2011 and 2014. She also produced and acted in the web soap opera Beacon Hill (2014–), earning Daytime Emmy and Indie Series Award nominations in 2015.

During an interview with Out Front Colorado, Chappell was asked about her experience as a straight woman playing a lesbian character in Venice and how she prepared for the role. She responded:

I didn’t have to do much to prepare. I am equally attracted to both men and women, I like both genders, so it’s not a problem for me. You are attracted to the people you are attracted to and you fall in love with who you fall in love with. This is what my character is, a homosexual woman. It was not difficult to understand or interpret.
