Courtney Act
Famous BisCourtney Act, whose real name is Shane Jenek, is an Australian drag queen, singer, and entertainer known for her glamorous, polished drag aesthetic and powerful voice. Her first TV appearance was in 2003 on Australian Idol (2003-2024). However, she gained international fame in 2014 when she competed on the reality television show RuPaul’s Drag Race, where she finished as co-runner-up with Adore Delano.
After Drag Race, Courtney returned to her solo recording career and continued releasing singles. She won Celebrity Big Brother (2018-) and hosted her bisexual dating series The Bi Life (2018-). She also competed in the 16th season of the Australian version of Dancing with the Stars in 2019, becoming the first drag performer in the franchise’s history. Courtney is also the host of Vanity Fair’s podcast Brenda! Call Me (2021-), possibly the world’s largest LGBT podcast reaching 750,000 listens across 170 countries since its launch in 2021. She also competed in the fifth season of The Masked Singer Australia (2020-) as Cowgirl in 2023.
Jenek is openly pansexual and has talked about this side of his life. In an interview for Cosmopolitan in 2019 he acknowledged the importance of gender and sexuality terms as markers on a spectrum.
A label-less world is a lovely idea, but it’s not a reality right now.
Jenek argued that labels are necessary for visibility and identity, especially for individuals in minority groups.[1]
